What is Acupressure Nurture Massage?

A form of Acupressure Massage therapy, applied to a fully clothed client by a qualified

‘Acupressure Nurture Massage’ therapist.

The therapist, creates the most appropriate supportive position for the client then, applies calming, nurturing acupressure techniques, which connect to key acu-points, to encourage a relaxing and rebalancing experience

This 1-day module aims to take care of us, as the therapist, and take care of our clients

The Acupressure Nurture Massage offers a fully clothed therapy for clients who may be nervous or exhausted while also being a gentle for the therapist to deliver

This, 20 to 50 minute, therapeutic treatment is ideal for clients with anxiety, stress, exhaustion, chronic fatigue, long covid, M.E., Fibromyalgia, and those who may be recovering from illness and/or have stiff muscles and uncomfortable joints.

Clients without these conditions may enjoy this too!

Being a holistic therapist can be rewarding but also exhausting

If we do not take care of ourselves then our bodies may wear out and we may become depleted

The Course

During this day we aim to provide each learner with both theoretical and practical knowledge and support  to deliver a fully clothed, safe, calming, acupressure nurture massage to clients, providing comfortable body support on the massage couch and to explore key acu-points

At the end of this course you will have an understanding of:

  • What Acupressure is

  • What Acupressure Nurture Massage is

  • Where Acupressure sits within other Eastern therapies such as Acupuncture

  • The different techniques of Acupressure

  • How to choose the right acupressure technique to nurture your client

  • Connecting to several key acupressure points

  • Where to learn about more key acu-points, after the course

You will also learn

  • What good body alignment looks like

  • How people who are inflexible or weak can be in discomfort on the couch

  • How being in discomfort on the couch can reduce therapeutic benefits

  • How to provide bespoke body-support for your client on the massage couch to aid a deeper relaxation experience

  • How to ensure you, as the therapist, maintains good body alignment throughout the session

  • How to use your hands and body correctly to reduce the risk of strain, pain or injury to yourself

  • How to deliver a fully clothed, gentle hands on therapeutic sequence to rebalance & restore your client

  • Look after yourself during and after the treatment session

  • How to make use of your time and energy during and after your session

  • How to maximise the session time for your client without impacting on your own time

  • How to integrate this massage and the additional techniques and self-care into your working life

  • How to continue to offer your clients a treatment as you age or have less energy yourself, helping them and providing an income for you

We will not be teaching you the location of all 14 meridian channels, as this is not possible in a 1-day course

We will explore the location of 24 key multi-purpose acu-points but you will not be expected to remember the exact location as this is not necessary for your client to receive the benefit from this therapy. You will also have an understanding about acupressure points so you can others into your Acupressure Nurture Massage should you wish to go on and learn more

Why is Acupressure Nurture Massage good for our clients?

  • No requirement to undress and then get dressed afterwards, reducing anxiety and also requiring the use of less energy

  • Time efficient as more time can be given for the massage or a longer time can be taken at the end to enjoy the ‘afterglow’ and ease the transition from getting off the couch to leaving the building

  • Fully clothed so anxious clients may not feel as vulnerable

  • The correct alignment body support facilitates a potentially deeper relaxation experience

  • The correct alignment body support is a technique that the client can use at home to support their own self-care

  • The massage technique is gentle so suitable for almost everyone

  • The massage technique sooths and relaxes the body with minimal invasion

  • No need to turn over part way through a treatment

Why is Acupressure Nurture Massage good for Therapists?

The length of the massage can be tailored to the client ranging from 20 minutes to 50 minutes or longer

  • Being a fully clothed treatment makes this time efficient.

  • You can offer more time for the massage

  • You can offer your client a longer time at the end to enjoy the ‘afterglow’ and ease the transition from getting off the couch to leaving the building, leaving giving you time for your self-care and writing up case notes

  • You can offer shorter time slots with maximum treatment, making your time/treatment more efficient

  • You can offer a treatment to those who are anxious about removing clothing so widening your reach

  • Your time-poor clients may welcome a treatment which can be shortened and without the hassle of dressing/undressing or oils on their body or in their hair

  • Reduced laundry and cleaning

This is a gentle therapy to deliver

  • Ideal for all therapists who want to work with a wider range of people

  • Reduced energy to deliver so all therapists can offer this in-between stronger massage clients to balance their own energy through the working day

  • Ideal for therapists who may be feeling discomfort in their hands, joints or body when massaging

  • Ideal for therapists who are finding strenuous massage too much but want to continue to work with their clients
